Helping to sustain an amazing culture and community
To help preserve the Moroccan Sahara and help provide a better environment for the people living there.
The Sahara-Roots Foundation was founded in 2008 to help create awareness amongst the population in the area of the M’hamid village in the South of Morocco, about the importance of maintaining their beautiful environment. The activities are focused on planting trees against desertification, assisting in clean-up campaigns and in stimulating the local school children by distributing and reading Wanda Hebly’s own-designed booklet “Me and my Sahara” in the French/Arabic language, in co-operation with local associations.
The vision is to promote cultural diversity, peace, tolerance and social cohesion among the peoples of the Sahel and Sahara. Emphasis is placed on the sharing of experiences, artistic exchange, advocacy for cultural diversity, mutual communication and marketing of partner festivals to have a greater impact.
In 2007, the Playing for Change Foundation was created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. Our mission is to create positive change through music and arts education. As one of our students in Nepal stated, “Music is an indispensable part of life -‐ you cannot live without music.” We couldn’t agree more. At the Playing For Change Foundation, we live our lives by this principle and apply it to everything we do.
