Day 1: Ouarzazate – M’Hamid el Ghizlane
Depart by 4×4 in the morning from Ouarzazate to M’Hamid el Ghizlane via the High Atlas mountain pass of Tizi-n-Tinfifte, the village of Agdz, then through the Kasbah of Tamnougalt, and the immense date palm oasis of the Draa Valley. Have lunch in Zagora and continue to M’Hamid, the last village of the Draa Valley. Arrive in the last oasis of the Draa Valley; stop in Ksar Sidi Khalil and take a camel ride to the first dunes of the Sahara. Arrive at the desert camp in time for sunset over the dunes. Traditional nomad dinner and night under the stars or in nomad tents.
Day 2: M’Hamid el Ghizlane –Ouarzazate
After watching sunrise over the dunes and a traditional nomad breakfast, enjoy a visit to the ancient village of M’Hamid. Continue through the villages of Nsrat and Bnisbih to Foum Takat, in the great oasis of Ktaoua, hike in the oasis and enjoy tea with locals. Visit the oasis of Ktaoua, Ksar Nesrat and Beni Sbih, the former home of the largest Jewish population in Morocco in the early 20th century. Stop in Tamegroute to visit the Koranic library, the manufacturing location of the unique green pottery of Tamegroute, and the underground streets of the village. Return to Ouarzazate through the Draa Valley oasis of Zagora and through Tansikht. Stop for lunch in Agdz and arrive in Ouarzazate in late afternoon.
