Sahara Caravan Trek

Description

Day 1: M’Hamid
Arrive in the afternoon in M’Hamid el Ghizlane by your own transportation.  If needed, you may leave your car at the agency in M’Hamid. Depart by foot through the last oasis of the Draa Valley and the first dunes of the Sahara. Arrive at the desert camp near the village of M’Hamid in time for sunset over the high dunes. Traditional nomad dinner and night under the stars or in nomad tents.

Day 2: M’Hamid – Erg Sidi Bousnina
After watching sunrise over the dunes and a traditional nomad breakfast, trek (either on foot or by camel) to the ruins of Sidi Bousnina via Reg el Arada. Enjoy a picnic lunch during your hike and a traditional nomad dinner at the mobile camp. Spend the night under the stars or in our mobile nomad tents near the ruins of Sidi Bousnina.

Day 3: Erg Sidi Bousnina – Erg Ezzahar
Watch sunrise over the ruins of Sidi Bousnina before an early morning camel trek to the big dunes of Erg Ezzahar. Picnic lunch in the dunes on the way. In the afternoon, the caravan moves on to reach the dunes of Erg Ezzahar. Trek by foot or relax in the dunes and join in the preparation of a traditional nomad dinner and night under the stars or in our mobile nomad tents.

Day 4: Erg Ezzahar – Erg Smar
Wake up for sunrise over the dunes, followed by a traditional nomad breakfast and depart by camel for the dunes at Erg Smar through Ait Ounabgui. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the dunes. Relax and watch the sunset over the dunes before a traditional nomad dinner and night under the stars or in mobile nomad tents.

Day 5: Erg Smar – Erg el Mezouaria
After sunrise over the dunes and by a traditional nomad breakfast, your camel caravan continues through the desert from Erg Smar to Erg Ait Ounir. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the dunes. Relax and watch the sunset over the dunes before a traditional nomad dinner and night under the stars or in nomad tents.

Day 6: Erg Ait Ounir – M’Hamid el Ghizlane
Enjoy one last breathtaking sunrise over the dunes and a traditional nomad breakfast, trek (either on foot or by camel) to M’Hamid and your vehicle.
